Lenovo A6000 Plus hands on review

After reviewing Lenovo A6000, we now had a hands on experience with its successor i.e. Lenovo A6000 plus. It offers a quite good upgrade in terms of memory with a very less price increment. We also have a dual SIM 4G LTE support at a low budget price level. Lets do a full review of the device and see, what it has got to offer.

Lenovo A6000 Plus hands on review

Design

The device has got a matte rubberised finish at the back which gives it a nice grip and feel. The phone is light to hold in hands with just a weight of 128 g. I liked the way Lenovo has compressed the size of its phone as compared to other brands. The power button, volume rockers are on the left with micro USB port, 3.5 mm audio jack on the top. The dual speaker grill is at the back on the bottom with a Lenovo logo at the centre. The one thing that still needs improvement are the 3 touch capacitive buttons which have no back light support. You can see nothing in the dark, and sometimes it very confusing to use the buttons. This can be the only disadvantage in the device design. It is exactly same as Lenovo A6000.

Display

Front view screen
Front view screen

It has a 5 inch HD IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (320 dpi). The touch is smooth and the display is bright when compared to Honor 4C. The viewing angles on this device are great giving you full freedom while watching movies and playing games. The quality of display is much better than other phones falling under this price range. However they have made no improvements in terms of screen protection when compared to its predecessor. You might need a tampered glass or scratch guard to keep your display safe.

Performance

It comes with a 64 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 Ghz. The RAM is upgraded from 1 GB to 2 GB so you can multi-task more efficiently. You also get an upgrade in internal memory from 8 GB to 16 GB (10.19 GB available). These upgrades in memory makes this device a tough competitor in this price bracket. There is no change in graphics processor so you still have Adreno 306 GPU. So you can run all the games like Asphalt 8, dead trigger 2, Brothers in arms 3 easily. The phone does gets a little bit warmer while running high end games but that is acceptable. The device has a expandable SD card slot which can support up to 32 GB of memory. I faced no lags while multi-tasking or normal usage. We got a score of 20623 on AnTuTu benchmark test. The overall hardware performance is quite good.

Coming to the software side, it comes with its own VIBE UI which is based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat. There are few games and apps pre-installed out of which, only some can be removed. I do not like the notification panel as the toggle buttons are congested and small. The theme consist of bright colours which can be sometimes annoying. You can use different launchers as per your choice, as a substitute to Vibe UI.

Camera, Sound and Connectivity

The device boasts a 8 MP auto focus rear camera with flash which can take photos of resolution 3264 x 2448 pixels. The front camera is a 2 MP fixed focus camera which is capable of taking decent selfies. You can also record videos at 720p HD videos with this device. To see some of the snaps of the camera, checkout our last article of Lenovo A6000 as there is no difference in the camera quality of both the phones. The camera is of average quality which can take nice photos and videos in good light conditions.

The device has dual Dolby speakers which can give you decent sound output. Both the speakers are located at the rear bottom of the device. The sound is much more clear when you listen to music using your headphones.

It supports 4G LTE, bluetooth v4.0, WIFI and GPS for connectivity. There is no USB OTG feature in this device so you cannot connect a pen drive. Coming to the last point that is battery backup, the device has a 2300mAh battery which can last for 1 day with normal usage.

If you were going to buy Lenovo A6000, I would suggest you to buy this successor as you get double the RAM and internal storage just by paying Rs.500 extra. Lenovo A6000 Plus is priced at Rs. 7499 and is available on Flipkart in flash sales (REGISTER).  If you have any doubts regarding this device, do post them in the comment section below.
