GO PUCK has announced it’s entry in India by launching portable USB charger. It’s a Florida based manufacturer which used to develop car batteries for some top companies like Formula 1, Indycar, LeMans Teams and has won some prizes for their excellent products. GO PUCK (Portable Usb Charger Kit) is a compact charger which has 2 ports with 1A and 2A output current. The 2A port is the RAPID (Regulated Accessory Power Increase Distribution) port which charges your phone at a faster rate without harming the device battery. Other than 2 output ports, it has one input port which is used to charge the GO PUCK device.

GO PUCK comes in two versions 3x and 5x which have the capacity of 4400 mah and 6600 mah respectively. The GO PUCK charger is wearable and can be attached to belts, devices via the active mount which is one of the accessories and can be purchased. So basic idea is to charge devices while you are on the go without any interruption. It has a 4 led battery level indicator which will give you accurate results. GO PUCK charger can charge your device 3-5 times in one single charge depending on the battery capacity.

Which tablet is the best for gaming?

We were hoping to be able to say that the best tablet for gaming is the iPad mini 2, in fact we have been hoping to say it for a while. However it seemed that there is a strong possibility that it wouldn’t even be launched in 2013.

If you have been waiting for the iPad mini 2 as your portable gaming device, then it looks as if you are going to have to keep on waiting for a while. Recently we learned that there were component shortages that were likely to delay the launch of apples new wonder tablet, but now there is even worse news, it seems that there is a major technical issue which with the tablet. There is a burn-in problem with the LED display which is probably due to problems trying to achieve HD resolution using retina technology.

So, in the absence of the iPad mini 2 what is the best tablet for gaming?

If your gaming consists of downloading an playing simple app based games and you need a new tablet this side of Christmas, then your best strategy would be to buy a cheap tablet such as the Tesco Hudl for now, in fact it is probably all you need. If you want to play console type games on your tablet then currently the best tablet is the new Nexus 7. Gaming club is a great example of a site to test out the graphics of your tablet, as it has games ranging from poker to roulette to craps.

Although the Nexus 7 might be considered to be a poor man’s solution to the iPad mini 2, it does have some great gaming features. It has a very fast quad core processor and currently the best seven inch tablet display on the market. It uses AMOLED technology which it not as bright as the Apple LED retina technology, at least it works.

How light emitting diode technology works

Light emitting diodes (LED’s) are based on lighting technology that uses the electroluminescence of various semiconductor materials. The phenomenon of electroluminescence happens when an electric current passes through a semiconductor causing it to emit light. This the basic idea how light emitting diode technology works.

Electron holes

As the current passes through the semiconductor, electrons in the outer shells of its atoms become excited and jump to different positions leaving a hole – an electron hole – in the original atom. Semiconductors such as silicon and germanium can be processed – or doped – in a laboratory to produce and control a certain number and pattern of electron holes.

Doping in electronics jargon is the process of adding another element on a molecular scale, to the semiconductor to produce a change in its physical and chemical properties. It can be refined enough to produce two different types of semiconductor in the same original crystal.

P-n junctions

The junction between the two semiconductor types within the crystal is called the p-n junction. It allows the electric current to pass through it only in one direction. As the current passes from one semiconductor type to the other, excited electrons fill various empty electron holes. In the process they emit energy in the form of light. This is the light seen on the LED whether it is the light of a small indicator on a screen or dashboard, in a torch, or on a large scale as in LED floodlights. It is also the process by which semiconductor lasers work.

Colour production

Different colours of LED lights are produced by a variety of semiconductor elements and compounds:

•       Gallium arsenide produces light in the infrared wavelengths

•       Aluminium gallium arsenide produces infrared and red lights

•       Gallium arsenide phosphide produces red, orange and yellow lights

•       Aluminium gallium indium phosphide produces red, orange, yellow and green lights

•       Gallium (III) phosphide produces red, orange, yellow and green lights

•       Indium gallium nitride produces pure green, blue and violet lights

•       Gallium (III) nitride produces a pure green light

•       Silicon carbide when used as a substrate produces a blue light

•       Zinc selenide produces a blue light

•       Pure silicon when used as a substrate produces a blue light although this technology is still under development

•       Diamond, boron nitride, aluminium nitride, aluminium gallium nitride and aluminium gallium indium nitride produce ultraviolet light

•       Phosphorous is a common material for LED lights. Blue phosphorous with an added layer of    yellow, red, orange or pink phosphorous added afterwards produces a pink light. White phosphorous combined with a pink pigment layer on top will also produce a pink light.

Mixing LEDs to produce white light

White LED lights are produced by a complex mixing process. Orange light from one LED device is mixed with complementary lights to produce white. (In light, the primary colours are red, blue and green that together will mix to produce white light). However, the best method to date is to use light from a blue or ultraviolet-producing LED and mix or coat it with yellow phosphorous ( green and red light produce yellow) to produce the white.
