Lenovo A6000 Review : A Low Budget smartphone

Lenovo entered the smartphone market in 2012, and have built some phones with amazing features. At the start of this year, Lenovo launched a low budget smartphone A6000. There is quite a competition in this low budget segment from other companies like Huawei, Xiaomi and Micromax Yu Series. Lets get a closer look at Lenovo A6000 by doing a full review, and find out how it performs.

Lenovo A6000 Review :

Design

The first thing you notice when you get hands on the phone is the weight. The phone feels very light in hand (Weight – 128 g) and is compact in size. The back has a plastic matte finish with a Lenovo logo. One can easily operate the phone with one hand due to the firm grip of the phone. The volume rockers and the power button are on the right, along with 3.5 mm audio jack and micro USB port at the top. On the back we have dual speakers with secondary noise cancellation microphone and camera (with flash).

Screen

Lenovo A6000 has a 5 inch HD IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (294 ppi). The display is bright, colourful and touch is also responsive. The viewing angles on this phone are great offering 180 degrees of freedom. The phone has no screen protection as such, so you can either use a scratch guard or tampered glass. I would say the phone has a nice display despite of being a budget phone.

Performance

The device comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 chipset which is a quadcore processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. It has 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory. Out of 8 GB, only 4.67 GB is user available. So you need to increase the memory using external micro SD card(up to 32 GB). For graphics we have Adreno 306 GPU which works fine while playing games like subway surfers, dead trigger 2, Asphalt 8 (low graphics), Daddy was a thief etc. Antutu Benchmark test got us a score of 20353.

On the software side, the phone has Android 4.4.4 Kitkat running out of the box. There is still no news of any future upgrades to the Android version. Lenovo has their own VIBE UI running on the phone with some themes available for download. The UI is clean and looks decent. There are many bloatware apps like Security, SYNCit, SHAREit, Guvera Music and a few games.

Camera, Sound, & Connectivity

The device has a 8 MP rear camera with flash that can take pictures of 3264 x 2448 pixels resolution. The picture quality is. The front camera is of 2 MP (1600 x 1200 pixels) and can take great selfies in good light conditions.

The phone has dual Dolby speakers which can deliver good volume level, and the quality is great when you connect headphones. You can enjoy unlimited music with the Guvera Music app pre-installed in the phone. Other than that, its a GSM dual sim phone with 4G LTE support. The GPS works great even when you don’t have internet connection. Other connectivity options like Bluetooth and Wifi are also supported on the device. The device has a battery of 2300mAh which can last for one day with average use.

The phone is priced at Rs.6999 and is available exclusively on Flipkart. Overall the phone has a very nice display with average camera.  If you pay Rs.500 extra you can get 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory on Lenovo A6000 Plus which is a successor to this device. Other recent competitors include Micromax Yuphoria, Redmi 2 and Dazen One. If you have any doubts you can post them in the comment section below.
